#HealthyLB:

Regardless of our race, income, age, or living situation, everyone in Long Beach deserves to be healthy and protected, especially during a global pandemic.

The Healthy Long Beach campaign was created to support health equity during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Through the 2020-2023 Healthy LB campaign, Long Beach Forward:

collaborated with neighborhood leaders, community organizations, and government leaders across Long Beach’s most vulnerable neighborhoods;
coordinated community-led solutions that delivered public health information;
guided people to vaccinations;
supported families in navigating the rapidly changing COVID-19 landscape;
safely moved between the streets and digital spaces, to bring people together towards a fair and just COVID-19 response.

Thanks to the help of people like you, our Healthy Long Beach team was out in neighborhoods, on the ground, able to support vulnerable communities who are often left out of decision-making. We made sure these neighbors were prioritized in local COVID-19 responses and preventions in Long Beach, leading to more equitable health outcomes across our city.

Legal Aid at Work: Legal Aid at Work, which is based in San Francisco but serves workers statewide, provides free legal services and has posted a comprehensive list of frequently asked questions about the coronavirus and workplace issues.

Research and Knowledge

Flattening the Curve: Given all the major events and large gatherings that are shuttering, it’s important to understand why we need to do this. Our goal is to flatten the curve. Our healthcare system is currently being pushed hard with the influx of cases (and potential cases). The number of cases will increase and we want to make sure we can manage the increased load.

California Labor Guidelines: Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) Resources for Employers and Workers
California Unemployment under COVID-19: If you lost your job or had reduced hours for reasons related to COVID-19 you may qualify for unemployment insurance.
California Disability Insurance under COVID-19: If you are unable to work due to medical quarantine or illness related to COVID-19 (certified by a medical professional) you may qualify for Disability Insurance.
California Paid Sick leave: If you or a family member are sick or for preventative care when civil authorities recommend quarantine you may qualify for paid sick leave.
California Paid Family Leave: If you are unable to work because you are caring for an ill or quarantined family member with COVID-19 (certified by a medical professional) you may qualify for Paid Family Leave.
